As you may have gathered from previous blogs, I am a big supporter of Sunderland’s bid to be UK City of Culture 2021.
I believe that we have the most to offer and the most to gain from winning and I was proud to be selected as one of the 21 community champions adding our voice to the campaign.
My novels are all set in Sunderland and for the past eighteen months I have been working on a project in Southwick where I grew up to explore and map culture that otherwise may go unnoticed.
The map launches this Wednesday and I will post more about that soon.
For now, he is my interview about why I am a community champion and backing the bid.
